Commissions...

How long does it take you to complete a commission?

The length of time it takes for me to complete a piece varies greatly, depending on complexity desired and my current workload. It can take anywhere from a month to a year. Feel free to email me to discuss what you have in mind for a more accurate prediction.

What kind of things do you do well?

If you look around the galleries on this website, or go through my other galleries, you'll probably get a good idea of the things I do well and the things I don't. Please take the time to look at my work and see if my style is appropriate for the piece you want to commission.

Is there anything you absolutely will not draw?

My artwork generally has a PG-13 rating. So tasteful nudity is okay, sexual or violent acts are not. If in doubt, shoot me a quick email!

What media do you use?

I use different types of media for different pieces. Digital work tends to be faster, but as the buyer, you only get a high resolution print instead of an original. Otherwise I work in pencils, gouache, watercolor and inks.

Do I pay for shipping?

Shipping costs are included in the price of the commission.

Do you do art trades?

Sometimes. It depends on the request.

Do you sell prints?

Absolutely! If there is a piece on the site that you like, please feel free to message me about a print, even if it's not listed on the sales page. Unless it's a commission that I don't have permission to sell prints of, I'll be more than happy to get the art to you.

Do I own the copyright of the commission?

You own your character, yes. I do not sell reproduction rights or copyright for the finished art or sketches.

Can I just buy a print of the commission rather than the original for a discounted price?

Since commissions tend to have special meaning to the person requesting them, the likelihood of me being able to sell the original to someone else is very low. So... the short answer is no. The price for the commission is for the original artwork.

I've decided I to commission a piece. What do I need to do?

email me to discuss the particulars of your commission and the fee. Once payment is settled, I'll begin work on the piece. Please have a good idea of what you want for your commission before contacting me. Details are good, but keep in mind that you're hiring my imagination and talent, and giving me a three page description of posing and costuming may not garner the results you envision. Once a sketch is decided on, I complete the piece and submit it for approval. Once it is approved, any remaining balance is paid and the art is mailed.
